Description
Wood-based panel consisting of a series of layers in odd number, joint through bonding and laid with the direction of fibres of adjacent layers at right angle (ref. UNI EN 313-2).
The panel consists of ceiba veneer external surfaces, while internal layers are usually made of poplar veneer.
External surfaces are always characterized by longitudinal fibres.

Quality
The qualitative classification complies with the requirements of UNI EN 635-2. Ceiba plywood panels are usually produced by classifying them by surface appearance as belonging to Classes II/III (corresponding to UNI 6469-69 Classes B/BB). Other classifications can be supplied upon request.

Class II (formerly Class B under UNI 6471) “Natural” surface, with chromatic changes and sound knots, suitable for coatings with rolled section, pigmented varnishes or lacquer. Adherent sound knots are allowed up to a 35 mm diameter, as well as small deciduous knots or cracking. Moreover, low contrast colourings, occasional adhesive stains, well done repairs and stuccoes are allowed too. |

Class III (formerly Class BB under UNI 6471) “Open” surface, stuccoed upon request, suitable for non visible uses. Adherent sound knots are allowed up to a 50 mm diameter; as well as deciduous knots, cracking, bark inclusions and overlapped parts. Colourings are allowed, provided that they are sound, as well as adhesive stains, repairs and stuccoes of any extent. |
The bonding quality
Ceiba plywood can be manufactured with the following types of adhesive:
- Class 1: for use in dry environments (dry indoors) pursuant to UNI EN 314, urea adhesive.
- Class 2: for use in humid environments (sheltered outdoors) pursuant to UNI EN 314, melamine-urea adhesive.
- Class 3: for outdoor use (unsheltered outdoors) pursuant to UNI EN 314, melamine-urea adhesive.
Bonding upon request:
Only for bonding Class 1, Ilomba Twin plywood can be manufactured according to the requirements of CARB phase 2 emission standards.
