Use of poplar plywood in transports, building, indoors and outdoors

Uses

The use of panels depends on the selection of clones (because some of them have wood characteristics - for example, colour and density - which make them more suitable for home furnishing, structural uses or uses wherever higher mechanical requirements are needed), the production process (type of adhesive, bleaching, fireproofing) and the panel composition (layer structure, defectiveness of veneers).

The main uses of Panguaneta poplar plywood are related to the home furnishing sector in general, but also to different fields such as transports (caravan fitting-out and car components), toys, building and sports equipment (ski cores and so on).

Poplar plywood is also suitable for indoor uses (subfloors, partitions) and outdoor protected uses, as well as for all sectors that can exploit its characteristics of lightness and inexpensiveness.

Panguaneta poplar plywood is produced in compliance with the European and international sector technical regulations in force.

For poplar plywood panels aimed at uses regulated by Directive 106/89/EEC on construction products, Panguaneta – also thanks to the adoption of the ISO 9001 certified quality management system – is able to comply with the EC marking at the different levels of compliance certification provided for by the reference provisions.

Structural uses

Unlike other wood-based panels and due to the many variables that influence and affect the plywood performance, there are not currently any European regulations stating the characteristic values of this typology of panels.

Their differentiation and statement
, which are an essential requirement to support design and structural verification in compliance with Eurocode 5, are left to individual manufacturing companies.

In this respect, however, the results of a study commissioned by Assopannelli and conducted by the University of Trento are available for the main thicknesses of nationally produced poplar plywood. The title of the study is: “Wood-based products for structural uses: Italian poplar plywood".
