Panguaneta and the PoliTO present MAACC, the first self-sufficient housing unit for cyclists and trekkers

A light and strong accommodation will host cyclists during their trips. A housing unit specifically designed according to environmental and social sustainability criteria, scientific research, recycling, enhancement of the territory as well as of the historical heritage. The project was developed by the Polytechnic University of Turin (the Recyclo student team) and was carried out by Panguaneta.

TMAACC falls within the European EuroVelo project, a network of cycle paths that, once completed, will cover the entire continent. More specifically, a housing prototype intended for self-construction the has been planned to be positioned along Eurovelo8, the cycling route that will cross Italy from Turin to Venice and will be connected to the Turin – Milan cycling route.

This project is designed to meet the growing demand for slow mobility accommodations and offers its future users a suitable space for their overnight stay and the possibility to repair their bicycles.

The sustainability of this project is granted by the use of ecological materials - which are mainly local, such as the Tutto Pioppo Panguaneta plywood - and of recycled products with low environmental impact. The project is the result of an important cooperation between the Polytechnic University and Panguaneta not only for the supply of materials and the technical support but also for the sharing of values as well as of a sustainable approach.

The inauguration is scheduled for Saturday 11 May 2019 at 9.30 am at Cascina Economia - Seat of Parco del Ticino e Lago Maggiore Albano Vercellese - in Albano Vercellese (VC) in Via XX Settembre 12.

Panguaneta will participate in the round table dedicated to the experts to reveal the synergy with this project that promotes soft mobility and energy self-sufficiency, in line with the sustainable approach already adopted by the company several years ago starting from the improvement of the energy efficiency of the production processes to the product sustainability and disposal. eco-The sustainable approach of Panguaneta involves the whole supply chain, precisely starting from raw material: poplar, in fact, is an intrinsically sustainable variety, because it is cultivated and managed in the best way in order for it to be a renewable resource, which also helps purify the air and store carbon dioxide. Panguaneta uses only certified and local crops supplied by the poplar growers in the Po Valley.

The cooperation with university research bodies, and specifically with the Polytechnic University of Turin, aims at enhancing the use of wood as a raw material in architecture and finding new opportunities for poplar plywood in the world of design and construction.
